Prophecy Fest announce four more bands for 2023 edition of the festival

Prophecy Fest are proud to announce four more exciting bands for this year’s edition of the festival in the natural Cave of Balve: Legendary British blues and rock singer Arthur Brown will return to Balve by popular demand. Denmark’s doom stalwarts Saturnus will present their hot new album “The Storm Within”, which is already creating a massive buzz before it is even out. There is a hell-raising party ahead: Year Of The Cobra will cross the big pond to unleash psychedelic doom rock in the cave. And finally, exciting UK dark metal newcomers Gospelheim get the well-deserved chance to present their songs on the old continent.

Martin Koller adds: “We think that with the addition of four more excellent bands, this year’s billing is shaping up rather nicely”, the label’s founder shows himself capable of serious understatement. “I am personally thrilled to see all of them, but special mention must be made of Arthur Brown to whom I have sworn a blood-oath that he will be back in Balve and who has gracefully agreed to honour us with his outrageous presence. It is going to be a blast!”

On further news, Prophecy Fest have agreed to a partnership with leading German magazine Metal Hammer.

Confirmed acts with more bands to be added soon (in alphabetical order): Agalloch, Amenra, Arthur Brown, Bethlehem, Darkher, Darkspace, Disillusion, Dornenreich, E-L-R, Gospelheim, Gràb, Illudium, Laster, My Dying Bride, Novembers Doom, Saturnus, Vemod, The Vision Bleak, and Year Of The Cobra.

The three day event will begin on Thursday, September 7 and it will conclude with a final concert starting before midnight of Saturday, September 9.

New confirmed bands:

He will be back! Arthur Brown has been rocking the cave for two years in a row, so we are making it a third. Widely considered to be a highlight of the last two fests, this beloved voice of rock will return again to perform more classics and songs from his latest album “Long Long Road” that was released on his 80th birthday on June 24, 2022. Expect an even more crazy show from the legendary entertainer. Fire!

Death doom veterans Saturnus came, saw, and kicked ass with their amazing performance in 2022. This year, the Danes will bring their new album “The Storm Within” to Balve, which is already being tipped for ‘doom metal album of the year’ titles by many after releasing only two advance singles so far. Top tip!

Gospelheim have been burning to showcase their catchy new full-length “Ritual & Repetition” live in the rest of Europe ever since the album was released last year. With touring still in a mess, this proved harder for the British dark rockers than expected. Well, here they finally come to present their perfect blend of dark rock and metal with a pinch of gothic flourish in Balve at last.

Seattle’s ultra-heavy psychedelic doom duo Year Of The Cobra are currently still working on new material to follow up their acclaimed latest album “Ash and Dust” (2019). But having honed their live set in support of VOIVOD on the “Synchro Anarchy Tour 2022” across Canada and the United States lase year, it is about time to test their new ideas in Balve. Expect the unexpected and a massive party.
