Spotlight on … Sinistral King.

*When did you really get involved into music in general and into metal specific? Who was responsable for your interest in (metal) music?

I guess it was when I was about 9 or 10 years old. My cousin showed me a LP of Overkill. Can’t remember which one but it was the ignition for my heavy metal passion.

*Which artists or bands did influence you the most?

Even just regarding the genre of Heavy Metal I could name so many! But maybe Quorthon or Ronnie James Dio – just to give some of many names here.

*Which instrument do you play and how and when did you learn to play? Did you had lessons in school or private lessons? If so, was that because your parents expected that from you? Or did you learn to play the instruments by yourself? Do yo still follow some lessons?

Every single musician in SINISTRAL KING learned to play his instrument (or even several instruments) in early childhood. And yes, all of us had professional private lessons or even studied the instrument at an academy. It all came by free will (hahaha); our parents didn´t have to force us … but they always supported us. We don´t take lessons anymore but it´s always good to practise a lot and learn some new skills and techniques.

*Do you follow other or are you intrested in other styles of music beside metal? If so, what is the music you prefer to listen to?

It´s always good, important and a instinctive sense for a musician to be open minded to different genres. If you are a serious musician this happens for sure. To learn and to be inspired it is very important to be interested, indeed. One of the main genres besides metal is defnitely classical music. But also jazz or blues can be extremely interesting to analyze and to listen to.

*Is music a full time job for you now or do you have a job beside music? If so, what kind of job are you doing? If you would be really succesful with music, would you quit your other job?

We still have to have ordinary all day jobs beside music. But that´s what we want. We want to be independent. If you are a full-time musician you are caught by contracts and other people´s opinions that hold your money you need for living. That´s not our way. We are independend to be able to do whatever we want to do.

*If you could start a band with other musicians on other instruments, which artist would you pick for wich instrument and why? (Something Like an “All Stars Band”.) Would you still go for a black metal band? Or would you do something completely different?

Would be a overwhelming experience to play in a big band with Glenn Miller. But unfortunately he´s dead like so many other musicians all across different genres I could name here.

*If you had been banned to an uninhabited island and you may pick 5 albums to listen to, wich albums would you choose and why?

Bathory – ‘Twilight Of The Gods’

Destruction – ‘Live Without Sense’

Emperor – ‘In The Nightside Eclipse’

Slayer – ‘Show No Mercy’

WASP – ‘WASP’

… do I really have to explain why? ?

*Every new album of a band or an artist is the best one, that’s what they always say (we do know it’s the first SINISTRAL KING-album). So here is a chance to promote the album. Why should a music lover buy your album? What are the standout tracks for you on this new album and why?

Because it´s absolutely diversified. You have so much to discover but at the same time it´s also familiar. One can´t get bored listening to it. I can´t pick just one of the songs. They all have their highlights and unique moments.

*Is there a chance that you will promote this album through live concerts (when of course everyting is getting back to “normal” after the Covid 19 disaster). If so, would you prefer small clubs or big festivals? And is there a chance we can see SINISTRAL KING in Belgium?

For now there are no plans to play live. But you never know …
