When VEGA and Basement in Copenhagen, Denmark invite audiences into the darkness on May 7–9, it will be with a strong, experimental, and not least multifaceted program. No fewer than 34 acts appear on the bill — some will be well known, but many will be entirely new acquaintances for most people.

The new additions are Backengrillen, which consists in part of ¾ of Refused. Also added are Morpholith and Pthumulhu from Iceland, France’s Untitled With Drums and Denmark’s Reveal Party. Last but not least, the festival can reveal that the duo John Cxnnor will have the honor of closing the festival with a very special Doom Rave live DJ set.
These names join an impressive lineup consisting of: Cult of Luna, Pelican, Russian Circles, King Buffalo, Slift, Blackwater Holylight, Sunken, Svalbard, Truckfighters, A.A. Williams, Ellereve, Eyes, Feral Nature, Heathe, Hudsult, Hyper Gal, Lysbaerer, Meejah x Hiraki, Nil Grøndahl, OMO, Puke Wolf, Roomer, Shearling, Slow Crush, Thot, Throwe, Town Portal, and Zahn.

About this year’s program, one of the key figures behind the festival and venue programmer at VEGA, Jeppe Nygaard Christensen, says: “With 10 years behind us, we have had both an opportunity and a need to look back, but we have also been very conscious of presenting a festival that has changed over the years. We feel that the balance between the familiar and the genres that have historically helped define the festival is strongly represented this year, while space has also been created for other musical currents and new audiences. We are equally excited about the returning acts helping to celebrate the anniversary and about being able to present the vast undergrowth of raw talent, courage, and artistic vision that can be found on this year’s lineup for A Colossal Weekend.”
